The 1st XI progressed to the 3rd round of the Junior Cup with a comfortable win over Monaghan at Eaton Park on Saturday.

On a sticky day, interrupted by some heavy rain showers, the home side set a target of 240 for the loss of 8 wickets, with John Glass scoring his first century of the season with 116.

In reply, the visitors rarely threatened, with only Ashok staying at the crease for any length of time as he amassed 49 runs. With 3 early wickets going to Michael Glass and then both John and Sam Glass taking a further 3 weeks apiece, the visitors were eventually bowled out for 146, some 94 runs short.

Ballymena will now face league rivals Templepatrick in the 3rd round.
