The mini rugby section at Ballymena RFC is one of the most successful in Ireland with over 200 children regularly participating each week. Several current Ulster players including Andrew Warwick and Luke Marshall first played rugby in the mini section at Ballymena RFC.
We train at the club on a Saturday morning starting at 9:15am for around 90 minutes. From P4 onwards we train on a Wednesday evening. The focus of training is the development of skills, fitness and most of all fun.
We have a large number of coaches and certified first aiders for our set up but we actively encourage parents to get involved, and support those who want to take qualifications. We aim to always have a player to coach ratio of 8:1.
Ballymena Mini’s adhere to the IRFU Long Term Player Development model. The LTPD model is intended to provide a common reference point for all participants in Irish Rugby with the aim of ensuring a more enjoyable and productive experience for all (players, coaches, parents, spectators, referees & officials).
If your child would like to play mini rugby at Ballymena RFC please contact the relevant head coach as detailed in our mini section of the website.
